Do your windows need privacy and light control? Are you concerned about security for your home? Adding window coverings allows you to control the amount of light that enters your windows and provides you with privacy when you need it. Horizontal and vertical blinds such as aluminum, wood, faux wood , verticals and shutters have vanes or louvers that allow flexibility with light control as you can tilt the vanes or raise/lower the blind all the way.
Another way to control privacy is with fabric shades that come in a variety of opacities. These products would include roller shades, cellular shades and pleated shades. They are offered with sheer, semi-sheer, semi-opaque and opaque fabrics. Be careful with sheer fabrics though as they offered the least amount of privacy in fact, for the most part people can see in as well as you can see out. You might want to consider the option of combining two fabrics in one shade – a sheer on the top and more opaque fabric on the bottom – it’s the best of both worlds.
There are window shading solutions that offer both fabric (usually a sheer) in combination with vanes that you can tilt. These types of window coverings include Silhouette, Vignette, Luminette and Pirouette window shadings, they meet many functional requirements and are also a soft way to dress your windows.
