Motorization

Style Gets Smarter

Ruffell & Brown Window Covering Centre is a leader in the industry for motorized shades. We can motorize everything from skylight shades to draperies along with cellular, roman, and roller shades – just to name a few. Depending on the type of window covering and the automation system used, the motor can be used to raise, lower, tilt, or draw the window covering. We make motorization easy by taking care of everything so all you have to do is push a button, or ask Alexa, and enjoy your shades! Motorization is great for any window, and is an obvious choice for windows that are hard to reach, such as a window behind a bathtub or couch. It is also a convenient way to operate several shades at once for a room or a bank of windows, and works well for heavier shades of large windows.

Want to control your shades with a remote? A wall switch? Your phone? Alexa or Google Home? Or do you prefer to schedule your shades to raise and lower during the day automatically? No problem! We have got all the options covered. How about letting the sun control your shades? You can do that too. You can even use a solar panel  to recharge the shade’s battery. Because motorized shades operate with a motor you get a clean, uncluttered, 100% child safe look without any cords or chains.

Innovative Products and Solutions

The products we offer are made by the leaders in automated window coverings solutions. These companies continually invest in research and development to create innovative products and solutions that allow us to meet our customers’ needs. Our experts are certified consultants and regularly attend training sessions so they keep up-to-date with the latest product developments and applications. We offer free in-home consultations to help you navigate the options and determine which type of automation system will best meet your needs. When necessary, we work in conjunction with electrical and home automation contractors to ensure that the project runs smoothly.

Automated shade systems do need thoughtful planning. Ideal for new build, hardwired systems eliminate the need for batteries and the electrical wiring is concealed in the wall or ceiling. A licensed electrician or low voltage specialist is required to do the electrical work for these projects. Hardwired shades allow for larger shade sizes and utilize heavier duty motors that are designed to lift heavier shades.

Most types of window coverings can be motorized including horizontal blinds, cellular shades, roller shades, Roman shades, draperies, top-down shades, Silhouette®, and Luminette ®. Depending on the type of window covering and the automation system used, the motor can be used to raise, lower, tilt, or draw the window covering.
