Beautiful and functional solutions for your doors
One of the most common questions we get asked is “What can I do about window coverings for my French Doors?” We have several products and options for you to consider. Many window coverings can be installed right onto the door itself. Some of them do not require any fasteners, so there is no need to drill holes in the door to mount the window covering. Most products are available with a “cut-out” option which allows your window covering to clear the door handle or knob. We also carry an add-on metal venetian blind system where the ½” venetian blind is enclosed between tempered glass and your existing door glass making it a breeze to clean.
Another option to consider is treating the French Door opening as a window and mounting the window covering inside the frame or outside the opening on the trim or the wall above the door. Keep in mind that if the product is mounted outside of the opening (beyond the window frame) it may require extension brackets or spacer blocks for proper clearance.
The new TrackGlide with LiteRise system from Duette by Hunter Douglas is a great option for French doors. With simple aluminum tracks and detachable side-rail clips, the TrackGlide system attaches to the window glass or to the door with adhesive, eliminating the need for screws, and keeps the shades in place even while the door is being opened or closed.
If sheer shadings such as Silhouette Window Shadings are what you’re interested in, their tilt-only low-profile system is 60 percent smaller than the standard tilt-only system. The sleeker system fits perfectly with French doors, allowing you to open them more easily without a headrail hitting the wall. An optional tilt wand removes all operating cords for added safety in homes with children and pets.
The window covering choices for French Doors include roller shades, roman shades, venetian blinds, shutters, sheer shadings, woven wood natural shades, cellular honeycomb shades, vertical blinds, and add-on enclosed venetian blinds. Our experienced window covering experts can come to your home or business to discuss the best options for you.
