Window fashion trends inspired by the SAG awards

Award season is in full force! This weekend, starlets stepped out on the red carpet looking glamorous in the top trends of 2014. As we've mentioned before on this blog, the interior design realm often takes inspiration from the fashion world. Take a look at some of the top trends of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and learn how to apply them to your home:

  • Blue: The cool-toned hue was the it-color of the SAG Awards, which is no surprise seeing as though color authority Pantone has already named the cobalt blue the top shade for spring 2014. Stars experimented with a variety of shades of blue. Amy Adams and Kelly Osbourne opted for bright cobalt, while Mindy Kaling and Jennifer Garner chose classic navy. Even Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o wore a gorgeous Gucci gown in the trendy cool-toned turquoise. It's easy to apply this shade to your home by selecting blue draperies. This color is appropriate for nearly every room in your house, including the bathroom, bedroom and living room.
  • Metallic: "Metallic wearers include Sandra Bullock's green Lanvin dress, Sofia Vergara's gunmetal gray Donna Karan frock and Emilia Clarke's rose gold Calvin Klein number," writes Jesselle Maminta of the International Business Times. "Jewels on the red carpet include Lupita Nyong'o's turquoise Gucci dress, Jennifer Lawrence's sparkly Dior (which resembles a really dark and sparkly opal) and Elisabeth Moss's ruby red number by Michael Kors." Metallic fabrics make great window fashions and exude elegance in the living room and dining room.
